SUNFLOWER 3-6 YEAR OLD PROGRAM
Welcome to the "Sunflower 3 - 6 year old program"!
In the Sunflower Montessori 3-6 program the children are instructed by all certified Montessori teachers. Each clasroom area of the school is carefully prepared to best meet the needs of the child.
Areas of Environment:
Practical Living - real life water activities like dishwashing, cooking, cleaning, gardening, small muscle manipulative exercises, art, individual snacks and family style lunch.
Sensorial - The sensorial room includes didactic sensorial materials specifically developed by Maria Montessori for 3-6 year olds. These materials are the foundation of developmental sensory and motor skills of this age group.
The emotional and social goals that we strive to help develop are as important as the academic.
Independence - Children will learn to work by themselves without constant adult intervention. Children will be taught how to dress and undress themselves, pour their own milk, use real dishes, and use the bathroom independently.
Concentration - Each child is provided a carefully contructed environment that allows the development of qiuiet, non interrupted concentration.
Coordination - Activities that strengthen your child's hand for writing and train the eye for reading are provided. Excercises designed to help with motor skills and balance are part of the daily activities that children experience
Order - The orderly and clean environment leads children to develop logical thinking for future math concepts, problem solving, and decision making.
Socialization - The activities promoting kindness and peace are cornerstones of healthy social development. Conflict resolution and empowerment are taught to help children to meet, interact, and form positive relationships with toehr children.
Self-Control - Children develop self motivation, and inner discipline. Children are taught to "own" their work, and they will develop a sense of pride and a positive view of learning.
